Day 57: Task Force LINUS Meeting

We had a meeting again but this time it's located in one of the building at my workplace. It started on 8.30am and I was the scribe for this meeting while Jeya was the host. PPD was there to give the opening speech and it was quite long. I was worried that his speech will consume a large amount of time of this meeting and I was right. I was right to be worried because other teachers who had prepared their presentations had to cut their time short. I didn't even had the chance to speak my mind but it's okay. I'll wait, the value of my words will raise if I keep my mouth shut.

In the evening back to work after a quick break. Simon asked Jeya to help him attended one of this meeting about training new teacher which is located at Kota Kinabalu. Jeya lives there while Simon lives at Sandakan which is over 300KM to get there. So Jeya agreed to it and she won't be coming to work tomorrow.

29th April 2014 (Tuesday)

Day 56: Curriculum District Meeting

Today we had a meeting at SMK Telupid. But we didn't have to go too early because our slot is at 12.30pm and Mdm Duisa was the only one who did the presentation. Aron asked Simon to buy certificates and Simon asked me to do it. I was like okay. He also asked me to bring along the printer from the office to SMK Telupid. Life as a rookie... I never thought that I will go through with it anymore. The certificates cost me RM114 and I'm not really fond of spending my personal money onto things like these but I still did it anyway. At least Simon paid me back the money.

Being there in the SMK Telupid room was not much of an activities. Listening is the only activity and I was really sleepy. I woke up at 3am today and couldn't get any sleep after that. I went out early and back home to get some shut eye. But it was really weird, once I was on my bed I couldn't sleep at all. Feels like I need those boring speeches to make doze off. 

 When I went back to SMK Telupid there's a blackout. The day has been really hot so, everyone was sweating. I heard from Aron and Tazrina there's an accident happened, a car crashed into one of the electricity pole near the Catholic Church. Luckily it didn't took to long before the power to be back on.

28th April 2014 (Monday)

Day 55: I'm a Hardworking Person

I can stay in my house today just because I went to Ranau yesterday. I can make excuses and come up with something but... I really don't feel like staying home. I went to work anyway. So Jeya and Mdm Duisa was surprised with me showing up for work. I don't even get extra payment for doing this. Maybe it could totally means that I'm a working man now. My career is no.1 in my life. Should I feel miserable being like this.. No. I like my job. 

I didn't do much work today but I spent time with other co-worker. It's a good time for me to bond with others. I need to make more friends and become known in the office. Other than that, I really adore Tazrina, there's something about her that makes my day a little brighter inside the office. Well that's a good things for me, at least I'm motivated to go to work. The internet was down but I did something offline. I learn about doing financial claims.

25th April 2014 (Friday)

Day 54: A Visit to SK Perancangan Ranau, Benchmarking Program

I need to attend this Benchmarking Program so I woke up at 3am. I knew that I need time to shake off my drowsiness. 1 hour watching some videos from YouTube and a coffee. Another hour just to get ready. I was on the fence on staying at Ranau or not so that's why I need time to figure it out while getting ready. Finally I decided not to. 

My sister Melnah exchange car with me, I wanted to use that Saga but she needed it more than I do. So off I go with her Kelisa. The trip to that place is fairly short compare to Mengkawago. Took like 1 hour and a half. When I arrived there, we didn't just go to SK Perancangan. I was little disappointed when I was one of the first one to arrived. I could've had more sleep. But it's okay.

Then at 8.30am or so we went to SK Perancangan. I ride along with Linda's car with Riyan. They're both representatives for SK Wonod. I should've just used my car because the car is not really that bad. If there's something that I really don't want to keep as a habit it would be asking help from anyone. I don't like the feeling of owing someone. But yes I owed it to Linda now.

Being at SK Perancangan, I was the video camera man. I need to save the battery so I only recorded when I needed to. I was really impressed with this school. They have great UPSR result last year. Talk about from 60 to 90% leap for English exam. That's golden. After that program, I went home and had the longest sleep.

 

24th April 2014 (Thursday)

Day 53: English Language Week in SK Mengkawago

I woke up really early and went to straight to Jeya's house after I punched our cards. Along the way we visited SK. Entilibon, Linayukan, Sogo-Sogo and Saguon for their school schedule. Only Entilibon provided us with theirs and the others promised that they'll send it to our office by the end of the week.

Tough road, it's not my car this time. Took us more than 2 hours to get there because it's Jeya's car. If it was mine it would be even faster. Just saying. When we got there, we were invited to become the judges for two of their competitions which were spelling bee and Mengkawago Idol. We had fun. After that, we went home.

Day 52: A Visit to SK Telupid

It's always has been me who set up the navigation. I persuade them to go to SK Telupid which is really near to my house. It would took 5 minutes of walking from my house to get there. I like this school, it's so big and the office space is just awesome. My uncle is the headmaster and my little brother Melwin is studying here. We did not do any observation and we just talked about the screening and LBI related stuffs. We also reminded them about the JNJK.

Day 51: Preparation For JNJK

There's supposed to be like staff management meeting every Monday but we didn't have it today. It was replaced by the JKKD meeting but even that was postponed to next Monday. The meeting was postponed because some of the materials for reading was not submitted and one of those materials was supposed to be LINUS team responsibility. I spent the entire day rearranging my LINUS files and documents inside the room. Jeya didn't came for work today but she did showed up a bit.

21st April 2014 (Monday)

Day 50: MS-ISO audit

Tomorrow is going to be Good Friday holiday. So Day 51 is going to be next week. I was left alone in the UPA room. Jeya went to SK Telupid and later on didn't even bother to come back while Mdm Duisa didn't even show up. While I was there sitting in the office doing my usual tasks, our office was having a MS-ISO audit. A group of people were inside Cikgu Henry office and they're inspecting our files and other things as well.

Well the result of the inspection was not good for our unit. When asked for files and other stuffs I couldn't even comply and give the right answer. But I was the only one inside the room and although others got something official to do. But it looks like they're running away. So our unit got NCR (Non Comformance Report) because of the lack of awareness.. as in because I'm the only one present and although it's been 50 days, I haven't been spending my time in the office.

Because of the audit I didn't have time to go back home. I spent my recess inside the office. In the evening we have a closing ceremony which was mostly about a presentation by that audit team.

17th April 2014 (Thursday)

Day 49: A Visit to SK Mengkawago and SK Masaum

We had our breakfast before moving to our first school for the day. It's SK Mengkawago and they are having English Month. I was really impressed with what I've seen. The teachers as a community was really strong that the activities was participated by all of the teachers. It made me think that this is how it was supposed to be. It made me think that if I was ever going to go back teaching as a normal teacher I would definitely do it their way. But even with all the compliments they were in danger of getting 0% for their screening test. I felt good because I went there early.

After that, we went to our next school which SK Masaum. There's actually two road and we're using the shortcut from Mengkawago. That road was nasty because we had to cross a river. It's raining last night so the river was high, the right choice would be to turn back and come back another day but I was feeling adventurous. I put in my low gear and step on it. I made it! But then again I need to go through a gravel, big small rock, hilly and muddy road.

Being there with Cikgu Jeremy, he already knows what to do. It's screening month so we can't really get in the class to do an observation for his teaching and learning session. It's more like we're there to interview him about his job. We didn't took too much time there because Mdm Duisa already promised SK Saguon that we'll be there before 1pm. Then again we reached SK Saguon at 11.30am. Talk about me being a good no.. great driver.

Being there, I didn't waste my time waiting for the meeting to start. I grabbed Cikgu Alessandro and Suzietah for a little intervention. Since Syakir didn't do much about the screening so they'll play an important role to ensure that their kids get better result. The meeting was another performance dialog. I had my share of time to talk and I felt great. I felt great because sometimes I feel like I was another man shifting into different gear. A higher and better gear. The meeting ended at 3pm and right after sending both of them, I went straight home and it was already 5pm. What a long day...

16th April 2014 (Wednesday)

Day 48: A Visit To SK Saguon and SK Penangah

I wake up fairly early just to get ready. I haven't packed my things yet when I woke. But I know exactly what to do and it didn't took too long for me to do it. Packing my things that is... Well I went to the office to pick up Mdm Duisa. Punched my card and Jeya too. Then Off I go to Jeya's house which is located at Singgah Mata, her house is on the same way to Tongod.

I'm a really great driver so hehe it only took us 1 hour to reached SK Saguon from her house. Normally that trip would take people hours just to get there. That was my first time visiting SK Saguon and I noticed that I passed by that school before. Damn. I just couldn't remember it. I also found out that the road that I used before was shorter than the road that I'm using. But the road that I'm using is faster because of the asphalt.

I interviewed Syakir the English teacher for year 1 and year 2. I was really surprised because he haven't been doing any screening test at all. This could possibly means that this school is going to have 0% again Holy Ship. I wish I visited this school earlier so they don't have any problems. Being the person that I am who is all about winning and getting that percentage. I pushed Syakir to get that targeted percentage. But Jeya had different idea, she told Syakir just to do whatever he can. As I continue talking she kept interrupting me with getting K1 and K2 must be completed but I'm on the other hand was a businessman. I want success, I want percentage, I want profit. So we had a big argument about it. Phuew... Sometimes I feel like punching her in her face. But I'm a gentleman I won't be doing that..ever.

After that we went to SK Penangah. We had Performance Dialog with LINUS teachers there and I think I made an impact and raise awareness judging by their looks.. I guess. I hope they can do better. I've been here before and I know what to expect. I'm not really surprised with how humid this place is. I stayed at Cikgu Albert's the headmaster house. At night, Cikgu Sanim his housemate asked me to join a little drinking party. But I'm not a drinker so I'm not gonna start now. The electricity was not good here and rain fell really hard that night.

15th April 2014 (Tuesday)

Dad 47: Staff Management Meeting Part 3

 
We have a staff meeting for the 3rd time. Well I don't even had the chance to talk inside the meeting because the team leader for each department was the only one who had the authority to talk about report and other stuffs. This meeting was supposed to be one of the quick ones but it goes on for about 2 hours. Mostly just our PPD talking and keep reminding us about some of the things we already knew. It's a good thing but personally I don't need that because I'm still young and I remember stuffs. I sat there thinking to myself this is kinda wasting my time. I could be out there visiting schools and do my job but I'm stuck there listening to reports that I probably be deleting inside my brain bin.

 We didn't went anywhere just stay in the office in the evening we have another MS ISO meeting conducted by Mr. Henry and it was really funny because only the new officers were there. The needed to be adjourn because of the weather. The rain fall and storm was really loud. We are planning on going to to SK Penangah tomorrow, I'm a little worried about the road condition.

14th April 2014 (Monday)

Day 46: Fasilinus and Director Meeting JPN/ KWSP

 Woke up at 2.00am and took me 1 hour to get ready. Actually I got a little problem with my car which is Saga. I can't seem to get it running and I had to switch to D-Max. I reached that JPN/KWSP building on 8.15am. The meeting already started but it was just an opening prayer. So I have to wait outside alongside with Glady, Lovenia and Gary.

The meeting was really great for me because I learned a lot from other PPD. Some of the Fasilinus even went for the extra miles of visiting the pupils who had attendance problem. It was supposed to be the teachers job to attend to this kind of problem but instead the Fasilinus went there themselves. So I don't want to lose to them, I planned on doing something for myself as well.

In the morning we still with the director but in the evening he had to leave for something else. But the meeting is still on but being conducted by a woman who I'm not really familiar with. She is the KPP for BM her name is Hajanah or something. I'll see if I can get to know her better next time. The meeting ended exactly on 5.00pm. I drove back to Telupid immidiately after the meeting. Reached home at 10.30pm. It's been such long day for me... time to get some rest.

Day 45: A Day Break For Tomorrow's Meeting

I went to the office just to get my card punched and I did not wear any formal clothes so I was a bit nervous if my boss saw me like that. I have this one day just to leave for Kota Kinabalu tomorrow. I haven't pack my things just yet and if there's something that I really don't like... it's packing my stuff. After that, I went straight to car wash and get my younger brother's car washed. 

I was lucky this year I guess, because now I have two cars. I got my D-Max and the other one is my brother's Saga. I can use my D-Max to get me to far away places with gravel and bumpy road. For Saga just for going to the office. My brother Melvis used to work for a Public School - Vision School at Tawau. Now he got offered to work for a government school at Perak. It's located on the west side of Malaysia, he need to get that car crossed the sea if he ever wanted his car. It's costly and such a fuss so he didn't do it.

I didn't went to Kota Kinabalu today because I thought to myself, I don't need to pack. I just need to wake up early. But I'm sure that I will have to wake up at 2am because of my past experience.

Day 44: The Preparation For a Meeting on Friday

We didn't went anywhere today, we decided to stay in the office to do our preparation for the meeting that will be held at JPN with the Ketua Sektor Dr. Haji Kassim. Jeya was not in a good mood that morning because she was really concerned about it and overly thinking everything. She was so frustrated up until she feels like not going for that meeting. I know what's going on with her so I did my best to calm her down. I called several numbers just to clarified about stuffs that needed to be done. I even tell her that she doesn't have to go and I'll attend that meeting alone for FasiLINUS BI representative. She was definitely a mess today and I think I should just let her do her own thing. But we did finished our preparation.

9th April 2014 (Wednesday)

Day 43: A Visit to SK Kironggu

We visited SK Kironggu and it's only the two of us this time. I took longer to get there because I'm using Jeya's car. Her tires were exhausted and she haven't had the time to change it because she is saving her money for a trip to Bali. The road was quite decent but the bridges were terrible. I'm actually really pleased when I got there, Asrul was all ready to go for a professional sharing. We didn't even have to asked for permission to enter his class because he invited inside right after our first step inside the teacher's room.

I took the video while Jeya recorded our conversation by paper. They actually achieved 100% for oral screening and he didn't even flinched when he told us about it. He was the first teacher who was really confident about his screening test. But he was actually concerned about the writing screening which will be happening on the April 21st. We talked about how we wanted him to become a JU for LBI but it was a no go because he just got a new baby and it's really hard for him to do so. Plus he's not a major in English.

Day 42: Staff Management Meeting Part 2

We had Staff Management Meeting again this week but it had to be cut off short because some other group was going to use that room later after our meeting. I didn't do much as I was just sitting there listening to what PPD had to say which is nothing much related to my job as a FasiLINUS. But I gain more information on the abandoned building where it is going to be our office. I don't have any chair and table to begin with. So I think I'll be getting one soon.

07th April 2014 (Monday)

Day 41: MEKAR 2014 Dinner

I didn't went to that dinner but Jeya did. She leave at 10am and I was left alone in the office doing some office work. I was distracted by Mr. Aron and Mr. Jamain. We had this really long conversation about our work. It's like an unofficial meeting but nothing to jot down because we discussed about the obvious thing that we did and what we had done.

4th April 2014 (Friday)

Day 40: A Visit SK Kenang-Kenangan and SK Keramuak

At first we wanted to visit SK Penangah but Mdm. Duisa didn't want us to go there without her. So we decided to go to SK Kenang-Kenangan and SK Keramuak. I underestimated the road because I thought I'll be in 1 hour or so but it took 1 hour and a half. I need to get passed 3 gates just to go there. Even though it's my first time, I made it. So the schools we visited today were:

10.00am SK Kenang-Kenangan

11.30am SK Keramuak

I'm not gonna brag about my driving skills but I manage to arrived 1 hour and 30 minutes from PPD to SK Kenang-Kenangan that usually took 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Day 39: Killing Three Birds With One Stone, A Visit to SK Buis, Ansuan and Kiabau.

Well this is the first time where only the two of us, me and Jeya visiting school. We don't have to wait for anyone and just do our own business. I'm really proud of what we did today because usually we visited only one school at a time but we got visited three schools what a achievement. We didn't waste too much time on talking about other stuffs like UPSR and so on. It's just pure LINUS and we roughly spent 1 hour per school. Immediately upon arriving at the office we went out. The school we visited today were:

Day 38: Staff Management Meeting

We didn't went anywhere today because we have a meeting handled by our PPD himself. Well it's about staff management and other stuffs as well. One thing for sure, we're going to have meetings on every Monday from now on.

We finally have teachers coming in. We got like 42 new teachers for our district and I got my replacement as well at my former school. SK Langkabong.

I'm getting tired of Ja! Mata Asta. I realized that I'm not in a school anymore. I don't have to deal with kids and my clients are grown ups. So I'm gonna dropped that. So for the very last time. Ja! Mata Asta.

1st April 2014 (Tuesday)

Day 37: Dialog Prestasi (Performance Dialogue) SK Gabungan

Right after we arrived at the office our PPD Drs. Mahanin asked us to accompany him to SK Gabungan. Actually we don't feel like going there because we already went there 2 weeks ago. Last week was holiday and I don't think there's much to say to Hazel. But we still went there and arrived before 10am. We talked about UPSR and the school in general. I only got the chance to talk about my LINUS BI a little bit. I would not say this has been productive for my side but it's good to maintain my relationship with our PPD.

31st March 2014 (Monday)

Day 36: FasiLINUS BI Course Day 4

Even though we didn't get much sleep last night, we still feel pretty much alive because it's the last day and it's only going to be until 11.30am. The sessions we had today was:

28th March 2014 (Friday)

Day 35: FasiLINUS BI Course Day 3

The morning session started with an opening speech by the vice director of BPG Mr. Sukeman Suradi. He talked about the press conferences held by Malaysian Airlines regarding the MH370 incident. Their interpersonal skills in communicating in English was not really that good. Of course other stuffs as well but somehow I remember that the most.

Then we had a session by Dr. Eng entitled Coaching and Mentoring. I think it was the best presentation and I really like those videos he showed us.

In the evening we have PLC (Professional Learning Community). Well we got good news later after that because we don't have night session. Which means we can go out and enjoy ourselves. Our group went out to a cinema for late night movie. I was with Jeya, Alvin (PPD Beluran), Jumaat (PPD Sandakan), Gary (PPD Nabawan), Patsy (PPD Pitas).

It was really great and fun with them. It was actually my first movie out for this year. Usually I just watch movies in my house. Ja! Mata Asta.

27th March 2014 (Thursday)

Day 34: FasiLINUS BI Course Day 2

The first session for today is by Madam Caroline entitled Help! Help! Help! I was able to stay for this one but the next session I had to attend ELO (English Language Officer) meeting.

I missed the next sessions "Fun With Sounds" and "Strategies That Work" conducted by Madam Liza because of that ELO meeting. At night, we had a session with the representative from PADU.
