Day 71: Office Day In Part 2

I don't know what to write today. It's just another day in the office. I found myself doodling me some drawings. I used to draw a lot back when I was a teacher. I thought by having this skill I could impress me some kids. Well I did and I became popular because of it. Once I finished with my drawing it seems like the people here like it. It's not really that great but I'm proud of myself.

Day 70: Office Day In Part 1

Same as yesterday, we didn't visit any school, same reason applied. We're still doing data analysis and preparing ourselves with the presentation on Thursday. We got visitor from schools regarding the PowerPoint and Excel template that needed to fill in. But nothing really interesting happened.

20th May 2014 (Tuesday)

Day 69: Under Construction

Well the office is having a construction and soon our UPA room will be transferred to the other building. I spent the entire day doing data analysis for all three Math, Malay and English. We didn't visit any school today since most of the schools are having their examinations.

19th May 2014 (Monday)

Day 68: Sick Leave

I can't drive to Kota Kinabalu today. I already packed my stuffs and I can be on my way right away but my head was spinning. I feel hot and I can't concentrate. I realized it's just the start of one of those high fever. I quickly got myself to Mr. Ragu's clinic for medical checkup. Well I'm sick, he confirmed it. I asked for MC and decided not to go for that meeting on Friday. I don't think I can even drive anyway. Well as I was resting myself, I thought I could just sleep the day away but Jeya annoyed me with her text messages asking me to chase those who haven't completed the data for their 1st screening. So I got up, with all feverish and all dizzy. I pushed myself to turn on the computer and start checking on the status. Thank God it's finally all green which means they completed it. So... it's time for me to go back to sleep.

Day 67: Data Verification and Workshop Epic Fail

I have no words to describe how humiliating it was to be in a room with only 3 teachers. We already informed all of the schools via email, info blast (instant massive text messenger) and letter of invitation. But it was what it was, almost nobody came. The meeting starts at 8am but it's 10.30am already. I was the only facilitator inside the room while Jeya and Mdm. Duisa was busy doing something in the office. I have to make the call with or without them, I have to cancel the meeting. This is the first time that this type of thing happened for me... I guess. It's an EPIC FAIL.

14th May 2014 (Wednesday)

Day 66: Monday Blogging

Well it's another day sitting in the office and all I did was doing my blog. But if there's something interesting to be added here it's about what's going. Yesterday, there was a harvest festival being held at the town hall. Our very own Lediana the clerk in our PPD was the Unduk Ngadau 1st place winner. Our PPD collapsed because of heart failure at Ranau and was sent to Kota Kinabalu Hospital. Jeya asked for a leave so she's not around. It's just me and Mdm. Duisa again today. Tomorrow it's going to be a public holiday, it's Wesak Day.

12th May 2014 (Monday)

Day 65: JNJK Brief Findings Presentation For PPD Tongod, Telupid

Today is the final day with the JNJK and we had a brief presentation of their findings. It's agreed upon last week that I'll be the scribe and Jeya will be the MC for this event but they got their own people handling it. So I just self promoted my very own self to become the camera man. The reason why I wanted to recorded everything was because our PPD was not there. I wanted him to watch this very important findings. It's the usual order, right after the presentation it's feedback time and then closing with a little souvenir and taking pictures activities.

 

Mdm. Azizah from JPN wanted us to be pro-active about the issues we're having. Most of the teachers handling LINUS were new teachers. I immediately called Jeya to join the conversation so she will not be arguing about it after this. The way she sees it, we're supposed to wait for another course where we will be attending and then do an in-house training. I already talked about it the other day about how urgent it is to do the course but to no avail. She wanted to wait so being the gentleman that I've always been. I said okay. But after the conversation, she will not be having any excuse to postponed it.

In the evening I'm still in the office with Mdm. Duisa trying to finish up our tasks at hand which is dealing with the preparation for this coming Wednesday. We're having a workshop and verification of the screening test data. I did the calling letter and printings. Jeya already went back to Kota Kinabalu that time.

9th May 2014 (Friday)

Day 64: JNJK Brainstorm Room

I believe I woke up earlier than Mdm. Duisa and Jeya just for today activity. I need to book that SMK Telupid and I was right to book ICT lab yesterday. This place already booked by PKG for SPS program. Yet I still got the meeting room there and pushed the PKG location to another room. But thanks to Mdm. Liew, one of the inspectors. She just helped herself in the meeting room like she owns the place. So hey she's the Nazir and the Nazir is just scary for teachers.

 

We got the room and they started doing their work. It doesn't involved us but I was there to help them with some of the things like printing and reports. But for most of the time I just spent my time with my computer doing my own thing and talked with other people.

8th May 2014 (Thursday)

Day 63: Inspectorate Visit SK Wonod

Well today something really interesting happened. I got text messages from Mdm Duisa asking me to help with the bookings of place for the JNJK tomorrow. I was a little under the weather when she asked me to do so because I feel like she always did push jobs towards me and Jeya. She didn't do much for most of the time. Well I didn't complained about it and told her that I will do so by asking excuse the leave the group for SK Wonod inspection for a little bit. Mdm. Shahrina asked me helped with the screening first before actually letting me go.

Out with the SK Wonod, In with the SK Pekan Telupid. I went there to book ICT lab and I was really surprised and pissed when I saw Jeya was there. A bubble of thought popping "why did she asked me to book this place even though Jeya is here?" Maybe she got beef with Jeya, I don't know but this is just downright pissing me off. I kept calm and booked that place. Off I go to SK Wonod again right after. Well when I got there, they were actually finishing off with the reports. They did the closing presentation after school. This school had it smooth because they have all the documents and files so it didn't took too long.

I have a new found respect for Mr. Petrus the headmaster there. I had a lot of negative thoughts before piling up from my past experience and other people thoughts about him. I have to apologize to him personally later after this for having bad impression of him. I'm actually really impressed by what he did. He stayed with the inspectors throughout the day and he gave the best hospitality compare to the last two school. The headmasters from the last two school did not have the tenacity he had that day, they left the senior assistant to deal with the inspectors.

End of the day, went back home and rest. I thought that would be all but late evening I received text from Mdm. Duisa about how ICT lab at SK Pekan Telupid is not going work. She wanted me to book for SMK Telupid. Nothing can describe how mad I was with her text. She wanted me to change the place and I was like how am I supposed to that when the school is already closed for the day. I had a little meltdown party inside my room before calming myself down. So I took a deep breath a play it cool and replied her text by telling her not to worry I'll book it early in the morning but I had to postponed the time to 8.30am instead of 8.00am. Mdm. Shahrina did called me about it later after that so it kinda save my phone credits.

7th May 2014 (Wednesday)

Day 62: Inspectorate Visit SK Saguon

Woke really early again... the same as the last log entry. I didn't put in the last update on the how the JNJK team operates. They have 6 teams and each of the team have 4-5 members. They're going to visit a school a day which leads to 18 schools all together to be visited. Yesterday was SK Langkabong and today it's SK Saguon, tomorrow is going to be SK Wonod. It took us 1 and a half hour to get there. I already told them to pack some foods before going in because this school doesn't serve foods to visitors.

 

We started the inspection with a little introduction and then straight to Alesandro class. Well his class was better than Andreas in terms of the kids that he's having. The students in SK Langkabong was the worst bunch in terms of discipline. So I kinda want to see how they both fair if they switch sides for a while. After that, I was given the task of conducting the screening test. I did actually that and I was sleepy as hell. I found myself drooling a little bit... maybe... and it's embarrassing because the kids are sitting just in front of me.

The school was humid hot and I didn't even took off my blazer which is kinda stupid of me but hey I wanted to look cool. It's hot but I want to look cool.. get it. I'm not really a funny guy so let's move on. Next we had the presentation of their findings before the closing. It's such a long day and a long drive. Along the way back some of the grass on the sideways caught on fire from the humidity. I bet they must've been really surprised by that. No surprise for a local like me, dry season here was always like that. Got home at 5pm. Tired and exhausted, I didn't felt like doing anything but sleeping.

6th May 2014 (Tuesday)

Day 61: Inspectorate Visit SK Langkabong

I think I will never get used to waking up early again. Because I knew that I was supposed to be early so I had to wake up at 4am just to get my internal engine started. It's always been like that. I had my own ritual in the morning where I start my day with a hot coffee and watch videos from YouTube. When I feel just right I will start with my morning shower, suit up and breakfast. If I got extra time, I'll just continue with strolling around the internet mostly Facebook.

Well I got where we supposed to meet up on time and off we got to SK Langkabong. We were early but I didn't found myself standing with the rest of the teachers for the assembly. We proceed with the short introduction meeting first and then the school carry on with their business just like the usual. Actually Mr. Abel the headmaster wanted to cancel the assembly but Mdm. Shahrina didn't want that. So my first task was to go with Mdm. Shahrina and observed Cikgu Andreas the new teacher handled his class. It's just like what I thought it would be. It was real mess. I'm so glad I was there to record everything. He need to work on his class control.

Mr. Iap the curriculum senior assistant got nagged and it was not a pretty sight for me. It was my first time witnessing something like this happened and I feel bad for him. The visit was really long because it actually ended on 5pm. I was so sleepy because I woke up at 4am. The last slot for the inspection process was the presentation of their findings. The questions and answers sessions were the ones that made it so long.

5th May 2014 (Monday)

Day 60: JNJK Introduction Meeting

Well it's Sunday night and how do we spent it? Yeah by having a meeting to greet our guest from JNJK (Jemaah Nazir dan Jaminan Kualiti). I don't really know how to translate that but I think in English it's about Quality Inspectorate and they touches about every aspect of the school. It's 8.00pm and I can never get used to this. I'm starting to think that I'm working more than I used to back in school as a teacher. Once the team already set we adjourned the meeting. At first I'm supposed to be with Jeya's team but then I got snatched by Madam Shahrina Abdullah the Vice President for JNJK she'll be inspecting LBI and the other two are Miss Masniah Binti Masri for Numeration and Madam Zurainah A. Kumang for LBM. Because I'm a Man and man I like to be the man. Before going back we discussed about our first school to be visited tomorrow and it was decided in a jitty, SK Langkabong it is. My former school. Good choice because I was running low on fuel.

4th May 2014 (Sunday)

Day 59: LINUS Module

Yesterday was Labor Day and 1st of May is here, another day of working, another day of me not staying at home enjoying movies and relaxing and stuffs. Well we were greeted by the postman with his big truck. 28 boxes of text book as in LINUS module arrived and I'm the only one who did the unpacking. Man.. I was sweating a lot.

Jeya had a fight with Mdm Duisa because of the calculation tasks. Jeya had it wrong the first time and she actually wanted to go home early today. So had to do it again and she almost made me do it. But in the end she did it on her own and sadly she still got it wrong. I think they will fight again the next time they meet up. Well I'm actually glad because she stay until 4.00pm to help me out with the rearranging and distributing the modules. Soddiq and Siti helped us out.

 

2nd May 2014 (Friday)

Day 58: Staff Management Meeting Part 4

We had another Staff Management Meeting again. It started at 9.00am and I didn't bring along my video camera so I have to pay attention. But actually it's like listening to the news on prime time, interesting but none of my concern. By the end of the meeting Mr. Jamain whisper me about something really important regarding my position in UPA. I've been working really hard and it seems like my superiors like me. I might be promoted to SISC+ instead of FasiLINUS. I'm just gonna keep quiet about it until it happens. I'm just gonna concentrate on my job for now.

 Later in the evening, I helped with the assembling of the new computers in the office. Some of the computers had problems and it cannot be fixed by merely tightening some loose screws. Although I don't get paid for doing extra, I feel good helping people. Well that's just me.
